A little bit about me...
Shiv Bansal arrived in Canada in 1980 with no connections in real estate — just a belief in hard work and the power of a good conversation. He earned his license in 1983, and in his very first year, sold 44 homes. That was just the beginning.
Over four decades later, he has been recognized as the #1 real estate agent at Century 21 and has ranked in the top 21 in Canada for 42 year. Shiv has personally sold over 3,500 homes across Durham Region and the GTA. But the number he is most proud of is not the total — it is that most of his clients come back, and they bring their friends and family with them.
The career choice was simple. Accounting or real estate — and for someone who has always loved meeting people, there was no contest. Every listing has a story behind it — a growing family ready for more space, or someone closing a chapter and selling their family home. After 40 years, that moment still gets him every time.
Real estate has also given him the platform to support the charities closest to his heart — something he takes as seriously as any transaction. In 1992, Shiv was invited by the Easter Seals Society and Centenary Hospital — now Scarborough Health Network, the very hospital where his children were born — to use his skills to raise money for the community. He said yes without hesitation and has been involved ever since.
What keeps Shiv going after all these years? His family. A Los Angeles newspaper asked him that very question in the early 90s, and his answer has not changed. His wife has been his anchor through four decades in business, and together they have raised three children now living around the world.
When Shiv is not working, you will find him making chai for his wife, reading a good book, or starting the day with meditation and yoga. After more than 40 years, he would not change a thing — and he is just getting started.
